Karolína, one of the participants attending “Sharp Your Mind” youth exchange in Murzasichle, Poland, decided to share her thoughts as a first time attendee to such project. Read from her:
The project took place in the small village of Murzasichle in Poland. About 30 participants from the mentioned countries gathered there, including me and several of my friends. We spent 8 days together, focusing on the topic called: “Sharp your mind.” The main goal of the project was to counteract the negative trend of declining mental health and well-being among young people, as well as to strengthen their attitudes towards emotional stability.
The week started with simple activities for getting to know each other, and later we began discussing more serious topics, especially about mental health, using non-formal education methods. At first, we were introduced to the topic and gradually defined what mental health really means and how to take care of it. Each day had a number of activities planned. One of them was an activity called “Book of Life.” The task was to name the stages of your life, add an illustration and a title, and create your own “book” of your life.
In the following days, trips around the area were organized. With other participants we visited the town of Zakopane, which is a popular destination for mountaineering and skiing. The next stop was Morskie Oko, on the Polish side of the Tatras, where they got to experience real hiking. Every evening of the week was dedicated to one of the participating countries. During these evenings, a country presented its culture, including traditional foods, drinks, dances, or interesting facts.
At the end of the project, the young participants left not only with new knowledge and friendships but also with a certificate of participation, called Youthpass, which can help them in getting a job or even in being accepted into university.
Erasmus+ is a unique opportunity to travel to many European countries, improve your English, gain new experiences, and meet interesting people, and I highly recommend it and will be attending more of the similar projects.
